Heavy Hearts at Tragic Loss of Student

  • Thursday, Jun 11, 2015

Madison, Wis. (June 11, 2015) – With heavy hearts Edgewood College shares sad news about one of our undergraduate students, Mohammad “Hamood” Bagabir, age 22.  Hamood died while swimming in Madison on Saturday evening, June 6, 2015.

Hamood came to the United States from Saudi Arabia to pursue a degree at Edgewood College. He had just completed his second year, and planned to major in business administration. Hamood will be remembered for his cheerful disposition. He enjoyed his many friendships, tennis, and being part of the SSOE - Saudi Student Organization at Edgewood.

Survivors include his mother living in Saudi Arabia; his brother Abdullah who lives in Madison; and extended family. His father predeceased Hamood. He also leaves behind a large network of friends in the U.S. and in his home country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Hamood’s family and friends as they mourn this tremendous loss. Our Center for Global Education is partnering with the Saudi Arabia Cultural Mission to respectfully honor familial and cultural wishes.

Please join us in offering sympathy, prayers, and hope for healing to all who knew and loved Hamood.  May he rest in peace.
