Green Light for Vets on campus

Madison, Wis. (November 11, 2015) – Edgewood College has joined a national effort to ‘Greenlight a Vet’ by placing a green light in one of the exterior fixtures on campus. The fixture, which is next to the College parking shuttle stop, will remain a green light at least through the end of the semester.

“With nearly two hundred active duty, veteran or dependent students on campus, this is a simple but meaningful way to say ‘you belong here,’” Military & Veterans Services Coordinator Matthew Schroeder said. “As these days get darker earlier, we hope the green light will give our veteran students, and all our students, a little peace of mind.”

Organizers say ‘Greenlight a Vet’ is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green. Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being. “Greenlight” is also a term commonly used to activate forward movement. The simple action of changing one light to green is intended to spark a national conversation regarding the recognition of veterans, and “greenlight” them forward as valued members of our communities.
