Edgewood College had top showing at the annual Madison "Top Nurses" awards in 2016. Laura Megna ’09 received an innovation award for her work as a nurse family liaison coordinator and lactation consultant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UnityPoint Health-Meriter.
Christina Bell MSN '06, DNP '17,
Senior Lecturer in the Herny Predolin School of Nursing, received an innovation award for her tireless work in service to underserved communities in a variety of settings throughout Dane and surrounding counties. They were both honored at the Madison Concourse Hotel in December 2016, and were featured as awardees in Madison Magazine, December 2016 issue.

Stacie Rhinehart MSN ’12, DNP ‘16 began her new position as Director for Surgical Specialty Clinics at the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation in June 2016. She will be the Director of eight different clinics located at the UW Hospital and at 1 South Park, specifically working on the UW & UW Medical Foundation Integration.
Karil Walther MSN ’12, DNP ’16
is the RN Director of Clinical Support for Ambulatory Operations at UW Health, which was a role she took after completing her DNP in Nursing Leadership in May 2016. In this role, she provides support for primary and specialty care clinics with a variety of clinical areas: the ambulatory float pool, Urgent Care, Clinical Staff Education, Health and Nutrition Education and Healthline, the afterhours RN triage line. Karil also supports several nursing programs including the RN Care Coordinators in primary care and NPs who care for UW Health patients in Dane County skilled nursing facilities. She works with many ambulatory policy and regulatory issues. As more care is provided in the ambulatory setting, there are many opportunities for nurses in this area. For example, RN Care Coordinators manage a caseload of patients with chronic diseases. Karil uses her knowledge and skills from the DNP program on a daily basis from considering population health needs to managing budgets and evaluating programs. She has recently had the opportunity to work with MSN and DNP students which she finds rewarding to pay back the support she received from others. In addition, Karil presented her DNP Capstone project work Nurse Manager Span of Control and Unit Based Outcomes: RN Satisfaction, Patient Satisfaction and Nurse Sensitive Clinical Measures at the International Nursing Administration Research Conference (INARC) in Orlando, FL in November 2016.
