Madison, Wis. (September 26, 2017) – Edgewood College is honored to be recognized by Washington Monthly magazine by being place on that publication’s ‘Best Colleges for Adult Learners’ ranking. Edgewood College is ranked ninety-fifth out of more than 1100 four-year colleges.
“We’re pleased to be recognized for our excellence in teaching and learning, especially for our commitment to educating returning adult students, who are critical to our mission,” Dean Pribbenow, Vice President for Academic Affairs/Academic Dean said. “At Edgewood College, we are called to respond to the needs of the time. To this end, we have always striven to create a diverse community of teachers and learners, and returning adult students are one critical dimension of that diversity.”
The rankings are based on seven measurements: ease of transfer and enrollment; flexibility of programs; services available for adult students; percentage of adult students at the college; earnings of adult students ten years after entering college; loan repayment rates of adult students five years after entering repayment; and affordability.
For the third consecutive year, Edgewood College is also honored with a place on the ‘National Universities’ list in the Washington Monthly College Guide.
The publication’s rankings are based on contribution to the public good in three broad categories: Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and Ph.Ds.), and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
Washington Monthly was established in 1969 “as an independent voice in politics, culture, and the pursuit of good government.”
