Eagle AthleticsRecent Grad Earns Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship
1st Lt. Abby Roach ’18, who recently earned her degree from the Henry Predolin School of Nursing at Edgewood College, has been awarded a $3000 scholarship by the Army Nurse Corps Association. Lt. Roach, a native of Lodi, Wis., currently serves in the Wisconsin National Guard.
“We are thrilled for Abby and are honored to play an important role in her education, and in her service to our country,” Dean Margaret Noreuil, Dean of the Henry Predolin School of Nursing said. “She is an outstanding student, and I know her contributions in the Nursing field will have a significant impact on the communities she will serve.” 
“I am incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity of attending Edgewood College,” Roach said. “I am confident that the education I received provided a solid foundation for my nursing career and has shaped me to be a compassionate, holistic, and caring nurse.”
“My passion lies within Maternal and Infant Health,” Roach said. “I would love to be the nurse to support, care, and advocate for a mother during her birthing experience. I would equally love to become a Neonatal Nurse and provide the extensive amount of care neonates need to survive. It is my dream to be a part of this journey.”
While she adds that she’s honored and grateful for the Army Nurse Corps Association scholarship, there’s plenty of work ahead. “I am also very excited to work toward becoming an Army Nurse where I will provide medical guidance to more than 7,300 Wisconsin Army National Guard Soldiers.”
The motto of Edgewood College, ‘Cor ad Cor Loquitur,’ (Heart Speaks to Heart) has a special meaning for her as well. “I also want to say thank you to my very supportive fiancé, Syd. He is truly an amazing support system and this year wouldn’t have been so successful without him.”
Lt. Roach completed the Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Nursing Program at Edgewood College. That program requires a bachelor’s degree along with the successful completion of numerous other prerequisites. Upon acceptance into the program, candidates complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 12 months.
The Army Nurse Corps Association is an organization dedicated to the Army Nurse Corps and its officers.
