Madison, Wis. (March 29, 2022) - Diamond Pikulyk ‘21 has been selected for the 2022 So You Want to Be a Coach program.

Pikulyk graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2021 with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She also served as Commencement Speaker for that event. She is one of only 61 women from across the country selected for the program, which takes players from all divisions in Women’s Basketball.

"It's truly an amazing opportunity to have been selected for this program," Pikulyk said. "I have known for the past few years that coaching was a passion of mine. It's a way for me to give back to the game that has given me so much. I'm really excited to network, learn, and take the next steps in pursuing a career in coaching."

Pikulyk, who is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership at Edgewood College, decided to use her fifth-season of eligibility in 2021-22, as each student-athlete was granted a waiver year from 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The "So" program is for student-athletes who are playing in their final season. Pikulyk applied this past fall, and was selected once again.

The “So You Want to Be a Coach” program provides female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women’s basketball the opportunity to learn about the administrative side of coaching: recruiting, how to get hired, skill development, the importance of knowing the rules, and how to balance work and life.

Pikulyk will participate in the two-day workshop on March 31 and April 1, during the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Convention in Minneapolis.
