Office of the President
I’m excited that you are taking the time to learn more about what makes this college so special.
Founded nearly ninety years ago by the Dominican sisters of Sinsinawa, Edgewood College has a simple promise: to help our students connect learning, beliefs, and action.
What does that mean?
- It means every student is important. Whether you will be a first-time freshman, a returning adult student, or someone pursuing graduate or doctoral study, you’ll find a challenging and supportive learning environment. We will expect your best, and we will do whatever we can to help you achieve it.
- It means that your educational experience extends beyond the classroom. To be clear, you’ll have a full classroom experience—but you’ll also benefit from many other learning opportunities. Internships, co-curricular activities, study abroad, athletics, research, life in the residence halls…these are all part of the full-time undergraduate learning experience, enhanced by our location in Madison. And our adult and graduate students bring their work experience to the classroom, applying what they learn in the workplace and the community.
- It means that we believe a college education should prepare you for life in every respect. We are preparing the next generations of scholars, leaders, servants and creators who will make our communities and our world a better place. No matter your background, you’ll be better prepared to make an even greater difference in our world through your Edgewood College experience.
I shared my vision for the 2014-2015 academic year in an address to Faculty and Staff in August.
Look around the site. Read the stories of students and alumni whose lives have been changed for the better by an Edgewood College education, and the faculty and staff who create this special learning environment. And then be sure to visit our campus to see for yourself how unique Edgewood College is.
Thanks for visiting. I hope to meet you soon!
