Welcome to Edgewood College

Orientation is the time when we celebrate you joining our community! Every incoming undergraduate student attends Orientation as an onboarding to their Edgewood experience. This is just the beginning of making lifelong friends, learning the resources you’ll use daily to be a successful student, and understand what it truly means to be an Edgewood Eagle.

The Orientation Leadership Team and the entire Edgewood College community welcomes, supports, and empowers new students and families during this meaningful transition. By providing programs and coordinating strategic services that meet the diverse and individualized needs of incoming students, we promote student success and persistence by offering educational opportunities that build community and facilitate personal growth.

Dear Future Eagles,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Edgewood College family. My name is Josh Ammons and I am part of the Office of Student Involvement (OSI). OSI is the office that leads orientation, campus events, student organizations, and Student Senate. It’s our mission to ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging and finds their place within our community at Edgewood College. As you either begin your college journey here or are just continuing it with us, we are beyond excited to see how you utilize Edgewood College to better yourself and our campus. OSI is committed to bringing intriguing and wellness-bettering events to students to keep them engaged and feeling festive. Campus events are great ways for you to meet like-minded individuals, participate in fun events, win prizes, and get the most out of your Edgewood experience.

As many of you know (and may be sick of hearing) it pays to get involved. When I stood in your shoes just a few years ago as an incoming student, I was also nervous and unsure of how to go about getting the most out of this very special school. With this being one of the most transformative periods in your lives, it is crucial to get the most you possibly can. Luckily, Edgewood has more than plenty to offer!

So sign up for the play, win prizes at trivia or bingo, find an on-campus job, or join a club. Edgewood’s facilities and resources are for you to utilize and wield, so do great things with them.

We are excited to see where this year takes you.

Sincerely,

Josh Ammons, Class of 2025

Orientation FAQs

Where can I park on campus during Orientation?

During move-in on Sunday, August 25, the Predolin parking lot is reserved for short-term parking for students and families to empty their vehicles. If you move in during this time, our move-in crew will help you to empty your vehicle and carry your belongings up to your room in the blink of an eye! Once your vehicle is empty, please park in a different lot.

All campus parking locations are open to students and families without an Edgewood College parking permit until Wednesday, August 28. Beginning on Wednesday, August 28, all vehicles parked on campus must have an Edgewood College parking permit.

To receive a parking permit, students should fill out the form linked on the Transportation Services website link below. Commuter students are eligible to apply for parking as spaces are open, and a limited number of new first-year residents may also be eligible to apply.

Overnight parking (from 12:00 AM-5:00 AM) on surface lots is prohibited and will be ticketed. Overnight parking passes for the Edgewood College parking ramp can be obtained at the Security Office in Weber Hall or the Campus Assistance Center in Predolin Hall.

How does move-in work?

Traditional move-in begins at 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 25, and lasts until 2:00 PM. During this time, students and families are welcome to park short-term in the Predolin Lot, where our move-in crew will help you to empty your vehicle and carry your belongings up to your room in the blink of an eye! Once your vehicle is empty, please move your vehicle to park in a different lot and allow other families to move in smoothly.

Optionally, you may choose a drop-and-go move-in on Friday, August 23, to start the process early so that your first day of Orientation can be even more hassle-free! Residence Life will send out more information about this option.

Transfer students can choose to move in on Sunday, August 25 or Monday, August 26.

Keep an eye on your Edgewood College email account for communications from the Residence Life Office regarding move-in!

Yes. All incoming students go through Orientation. Many find that this is where they meet college friends, learn important tools for success, and feel a stronger connection to the Edgewood College community after having completed First Flight.

Is Orientation for friends and family?

Orientation sessions are intended for incoming students only, so make sure to grab lunch with your student and say goodbye before Orientation begins at 3:30 PM. Students will be very busy with mandatory events during Orientation, so they may be difficult to track down after 3:30 PM.
