DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

The Department of Physical, Computational, and Mathematical Sciences at Edgewood University invites applications for adjunct instructors to develop and/or teach graduate-level mathematics courses for returning adult secondary mathematics teachers seeking to become qualified to teach dual-enrollment math classes.

Candidates with specialties in any mathematical subfield are welcome: the Department is especially interested in applications from candidates with expertise in the areas of analysis, number theory, or abstract algebra. The courses are intended to be 8-week, online offerings.

Responsibilities:

The faculty member will cooperate with the online design team to design courses and implement teaching strategies that facilitate student engagement and success with mathematics. Contributions to efforts such as department-wide assessment reports are also expected

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics is required
  • Experience teaching in a higher-education setting is preferred
  • Experience teaching in an online or blended setting is preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • An enthusiastic, reflective approach to teaching.
  • Ability to engage adult students in developing the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to reach their learning goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with department colleagues and others on campus.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology, such as learning management systems and online homework platforms.

This is a general call, but review of applications will begin immediately and be ongoing; we expect to launch these courses in January 2026 and run them sequentially in 8-week sessions year-round.
