3D Art Instructor/Studio Manager
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The 3D Art Instructor/Studio Manager teaches courses as needed for program majors and general education. This instructor is also responsible for the operation of the 3D studios in The Stream building at Edgewood University, including planning, purchasing, maintaining inventories, supervising student assistants, and overseeing studio safety. The person in this position also contributes to installation and prep of gallery shows and collections. The Art Studio Manager reports to the Chair of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. This is a 10-month position.
Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in 3D Art
- Oversee studio equipment purchase, preparation, and maintenance
- Collaborate on gallery installation and prep of shows and collections, including The Stream Atrium
- Oversees studio and classroom preparations
- Maintain equipment and supply inventories
- Collaborate with facilities and environmental health and safety where necessary, and track building operations
- Collaborate with other campus programming where appropriate
- Hire, train, supervise, and mentor student assistants
- Manage purchasing, submit invoices, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
- MFA or terminal degree preferred
- Relevant teaching and studio experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to train and supervise student assistants
- Use and maintenance of studio equipment
- Ability to shift priorities and work with frequent interruptions
- Effective communication skills
Specialized Technology Skills:
- Overall proficient skill-level in Microsoft Office, which includes: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and LMS platforms is a plus
- Willingness and ability to learn new software
