DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

The Department of Biological Sciences at Edgewood University invites applications for part-time adjunct instructors to teach introductory cell biology in the Fall of 2026.

Course Description – (Bio155)

This is a one-semester exploration of the biological chemistry of the human cell organized around the unifying theme of the relationship of chemistry of biomolecules to the functional biology of a cell. Topics include the nature of science, biochemistry of water, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids, cellular structures, energy transformations in the cell, mitosis, meiosis, relationship between genotype and phenotype, transmission genetics and cancer. The material is covered in a combination of lecture and laboratory.

Responsibilities:

Instructors would be responsible for planning, implementing, and grading formative and summative assessments in lecture and lab. They will also be expected to work with other instructors to ensure alignment between different sections of a course. All courses are managed through an online LMS (Canvas) and instructors are expected to maintain an updated course site throughout the semester.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree or ABD in biology or a closely related field required; a PhD is preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching at the college level is highly preferred.
