DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

Edgewood University is seeking part-time Lecturers to teach in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling Program and contribute to student professional development, course management, program assessment, accreditation and quality improvement. The teaching load is 12 credit hours over the 12-month appointment. This appointment is not tenure-track but is renewable on an annual basis at the discretion of the institution. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate-level courses in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program (online in Canvas) with synchronous and asynchronous content
  • Revise, and deliver course content aligned with program learning outcomes defined in accord with accreditation and licensing standards
  • Provide timely feedback to students in support of professional development.
  • Maintain virtual office hours
  • Maintain and update course syllabi and Canvas course shells to ensure consistency and quality across assigned courses (courses within assigned pillars)
  • Participation in program assessment, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including class visits, reviews of instructional practices, and provision of constructive feedback
  • Participation in Students’ Thesis committees
  • Attend and participate in planning for residencies, one virtual (August) and one in-person (April) program faculty meetings

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Doctorate in Art Therapy, Counseling and/or Psychology preferred
  • Registered, Board Certified Art Therapist ATR-BC, Licensed LPC or equivalent, or license eligible in Wisconsin preferred
  • Active participation in state, national, and local professional organizations
  • Evidence of continuing scholarly work and competence in teaching
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills, flexibility, mature judgment, and a commitment to teaching in a creative, collaborative and values-based environment with a focus on promoting individual student success.
  • Minimum of three years graduate teaching experience.
  • Recent clinical practice; Minimum of at least three years within the past fifteen years

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the fields of Counseling and Art Therapy
  • WI State standards for licensure
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective skills in teaching and mentoring
