DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

Edgewood University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach one or more of the following Fall 2026 courses: ART 102 Watercolor MW 12 – 1:50; ART 114 Drawing for Non-Art Majors TR 10 – 11:50; ART 200 Drawing for Art Majors TR 2 – 3:50.

Responsibilities:

  • Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of the academic success for students with accommodations.
    • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Note preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching course
    • Provide each student with clear course expectations, regular feedback, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus with course schedule
    • Provide interesting and relevant assignments, lectures, and active learning modules for students
    • Clearly and methodically demonstrate foundational studio art ideas, theories, and concepts to students in beginning levels of study
    • Suitably challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
    • Complete regular and timely updates of progress and grades in Canvas course management software online (training available), final grade submission through online system to the Registrar’s Office, academic alerts, learning assessments, and final portfolio assessments on a timely basis
    • Communicate (in person and with institutional email platform) with department chairs and leadership to provide necessary assessment and other materials as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree or MFA (or international equivalent) from an accredited institution in a related discipline preferred
  • Teaching experience strongly preferred

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent grasp of studio art practices, theories, and methodologies
  • Demonstrate strong technical proficiency and the ability to effectively deliver instructional content using current educational technologies and teaching methodologies in in-person, online, and hybrid learning environments.
