Social Media Strategist
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Edgewood University’s Office of Marketing and Strategic Communications (MSC) is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and tech-savvy individual to serve as Social Media Strategist. The Strategist will work directly with the MSC team to strategize and create original content for social media platforms and analyze target audience engagement. The individual will partner with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to create content that is within the Edgewood brand, generates awareness on social media channels, establish goals for programmatic and admissions content/engagement, within Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. he individual will partner with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to create content that is within the Edgewood brand, generates awareness on social media channels, establish goals for programmatic and admissions content/engagement, within Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Additionally, this person will provide training, education, and support about social media best practices, planning, brand voice/tone, and strategy. This position will assist with other digital and multimedia projects assigned.
Reporting to the AVP for Marketing Strategy, the Social Media Strategist is a full-time, in-person, position. While this position typically works 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, occasional weekend and evening hours will be required.

Responsibilities:
The Social Media Strategist will be primarily responsible for strengthening and bringing greater visibility to the Edgewood University brand by:
- Research, brainstorm, and strategize engaging social media content to capture target audiences, including prospective families, alumni, current students and parents, and community members.
- Content specific to social media channels includes:
- Generate, edit, and publish scheduled content that aligns with strategic goals for engagement and awareness for the University’s external audiences.
- Channels include: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Create innovative and original written content for social media accounts;
- Produce photographic and video content for social media accounts;
- Maintain and optimize the social media content calendar to ensure consistent, strategic postings;
- Collaborate with Graphic Designer to create social media graphics;
- Track and report on the University’s social media analytics on a quarterly basis.
- Ensure the University’s brand identity, voice, tone, style is consistent to branding guidelines and across all platforms.
- Create a vibrant content strategy that will increase awareness, engagement, and inquiries
- Grow social media presence by maintaining social media profiles with new content 3-4 times each week;
- Stay up to date with current trends and new tools to increase engagement;
- Seek out stories and non-athletic events to promote through social media channels;
- Attend in person events to produce content for social media (may include opportunities for video or photo);
- Use insights and results of A/B testing to guide content strategy;
- Elevate the Edgewood University brand ensuring brand identity, voice, tone, and style is consistent to branding guidelines.
- Provide annual training, education, and support about social media best practices, planning, brand voice/tone, and strategy for both internal partners/areas and external partners.
- Review, monitor, and respond to comments on organic and paid social media posts and ads that maintain the Edgewood University brand tone and voice.
- Analyze and interpret data from social media analytics
- Measure and report performance of social media campaigns and assess against goals.
- Create reports for review by the marketing, advancement, and admissions team.
- Monitor competition and provide suggestions for improvement.
- Capture photos and videos, which would require attendance at campus events, athletics competitions, graduation, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business or a related field
- Minimum of 1 years marketing and/or communications or social media experience preferred
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to write, create a content plan, manage, and assess multiple social media channels
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Understand KPI’s and define specifically for social media
- Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and the ability to execute knowledge in a professional environment
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to handle multiple projects while meeting concurrent deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with key constituencies
- An understanding and interest in strategic marketing communications, storytelling, and enhancing the student experience through meaningful, social connections
Specialized Technology Skills:
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with video editing software and social media platforms
