Professional Development Opportunities

At Edgewood College, we are committed to developing inclusive leaders and ensuring that our faculty, staff and administrators have the skills needed to lead a diverse community.

Central to doing this is creating opportunities for our faculty and staff to sharpen their skills and competencies:

  • Monthly skill-building workshops to enhance diversity competences for faculty & staff
  • Dedicated time during August & January Seminar for training on inclusive teaching practices and diversity competencies.
  • Regular training on Title IX and Managing Bias
  • Training for all search committee chairs on How Bias Influences the Search Process

Multicultural Student Lounge

The primary mission of the Multicultural Student Lounge is to collaboratively strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus where all students, particularly students of color and other historically underserved students, can realize an authentic Edgewood College Experience. The Multicultural Student Lounge serves as a haven of support, solidarity and a space to share experiences among students. Historically known as the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, located in 206 of the Predolin Humanities Center, this space is distinct because it recognizes the activism and accomplishments of students of color and other historically underserved students.

Queer Student Center

The primary mission of the Queer Student Center is to collaboratively empower and support a campus where all students who identify as LGBTQ+ can feel comfortable and have access to an authentic Edgewood College Experience. Queer Student Center serves as a haven of liberation, solidarity, and a space to share experiences among students. Located in 208 of the Predolin Humanities Center, this space is distinct because it recognizes the activism, persistence, and accomplishments of various students, faculty, and staff.

Interfaith Prayer Center

At Edgewood College, we encourage students to explore and discuss the many faith traditions and spiritual practices of our diverse community. The division of Dominican Life & Mission offers interfaith programming and opportunities throughout the year for students to engage in learning and develop the skills needed to build a just and compassionate world.

Community members of all faith backgrounds and spiritual beliefs may find the Edgewood College Interfaith Prayer Room, located in Predolin 209B, as a space for peaceful reflection, meditation, or prayer.

Military & Veteran Services

At Edgewood College, we appreciate the sacrifice that military service demands, no matter where your career took you. We are pleased to welcome all veterans to our campus and outreach locations, regardless of your interest in academics. A smooth transition into college life will aid in the long-term success of our veteran students. We are here to help whether you are a first-time student, someone returning to finish their degree, or someone looking to continue their education in one of our graduate or doctoral programs.

Employee Resource Groups

The ALANA Support Network (ASN)

The ALANA Support Network (ASN) is a network of faculty and staff of color that advocate for enhanced diversity and inclusion at Edgewood College.

The network was established in 2011 by a small group of ALANA employees to better support one another through fellowship and learned experience, and has since grown to include close to 50 members. The ASN meets regularly throughout the academic year for both social and business meetings. The Network also sponsors an ALANA Peer Mentoring Program which matches junior faculty and staff with faculty and staff of color that have been at Edgewood College for over two years.
