Images that diagnose

You’ve always been interested in health care and being a part of the discovery process with patients. Edgewood University offers a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences degree with two concentrations: medical sonography and radiography. This degree is multidisciplinary, exploring a variety of different topics to prepare you for either concentration. Additionally, students will be prepared should they desire to pursue an advanced degree in a health-related master’s program.

As a Health Sciences major in either concentration, you will apply to complete two (2) full years in an internship at UW Health. A highly competitive program with excellent certification and employment success; the curriculum is designed to specifically improve Edgewood University students’ likelihood of acceptance.

Medical Sonography Concentration

Medical Sonographers perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and work under the guidance of physicians. You’ll employ ultrasound, or high-frequency sound waves, to detect and diagnose diseases in body organs and tissues.

Program Description

The BS in Health Sciences with a concentration in Sonography provides students with a foundation in health sciences while offering focused preparation in diagnostic medical ultrasound. Students engage in coursework in areas such as anatomy, physiology, and patient care, alongside specialized study in sonographic imaging, instrumentation, and diagnostic procedures. The program emphasizes clinical competence, communication, and ethical practice in healthcare settings. Supervised clinical experiences provide hands-on training in sonographic techniques. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in diagnostic imaging and may pursue professional certification and credentialing in sonography.
Edgewood University’s Henry Predolin College of Health Science partners with UW Health’s School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for the clinical portion of the Health Science degree. During their sophomore year at Edgewood University, students apply to their preferred partner program to begin their clinical training their junior year.

Radiography Concentration

Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic imaging examinations and work under the guidance of radiologists. They use different kinds of ionizing radiation to identify and/or treat disease and to diagnose medical problems.

Program Description

The BS in Health Sciences with a concentration in Radiography provides students with a foundation in health sciences their first two years at Edgewood University while offering focused preparation in medical imaging their second two years with affiliated partners. Students engage in coursework in areas such as anatomy, physiology, and patient care, alongside specialized study in radiographic procedures, imaging technology, and radiation safety. The program emphasizes clinical competence, ethical practice, and the application of technical skills in healthcare settings. Supervised clinical experiences provide hands-on training in radiographic techniques. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in medical imaging and may pursue professional certification and licensure in radiography.
Edgewood University’s Henry Predolin College of Health Science partners with UW Health’s School of Radiologic Technology, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s School of Radiologic Technology, and Children’s Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology for the clinical portion of the Health Science degree. During their sophomore year at Edgewood University, students apply to their preferred partner program to begin their clinical training their junior year.
