DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

Edgewood University is seeking part-time Adjunct Instructors for our Online Healthcare Administration Program. We are looking for individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Leadership & Healthcare Organizations
  • Healthcare Finance
  • Healthcare Risk Management
  • Health Information Systems
  • Healthcare Human Resources
  • Healthcare Management and Organizational Behaviors
  • Healthcare Law and Ethics
  • Health Policy and Advocacy
  • Healthcare Strategy

Adjunct Instructors are healthcare professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Edgewood University students. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of the teacher and facilitator of learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching courses as agreed upon with the HCA Program Director. 
  • Refining and annually reviewing course syllabi, updating appropriately.
  • Selection of appropriate instructional methods.
  • Development and update of course materials with integration of online resources.
  • Preparation of teaching and learning activities before the start of each semester and immersive lab experiences.
  • Promotion of evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluation of students’ assignments
  • Hold a minimum of 2 virtual office hours each week
  • Collaboration with faculty and program leadership to ensure course objectives are met.
  • Provision of timely and constructive feedback to support student development

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Relevant earned master, doctoral degree, or ABD required from a regionally accredited university or college, or its equivalent: MA, MS, MHA, PhD, DHA, MD, JD, DSW, DNP, PharmD, PsyD, EdD, etc.
  • Demonstrated advanced and broad-based knowledge in a specific discipline of healthcare administration (e.g., law and ethics, healthcare policy, finance, Human resources, Leadership, Strategy); active research agenda/quality improvement efforts; peer-reviewed publications; higher education teaching experience; clinical experience/expertise; and/or conference presentations conducted within the past five years; etc.
  • Preferred: FACHE
  • Successful teaching experience in graduate level higher education is preferred.
  • Successful teaching experience in asynchronous and highly interactive online education is required.
  • Ability to build online courses in Canvas.

Required knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to build online courses in Canvas.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to critique student professionalism, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and knowledge content in healthcare administration.
  • Ability to articulate own philosophy of education.
  • Willingness to spend the time to forge relationships with students and faculty.
  • Ability to work with students from all levels of experiences and backgrounds, and to support/educate students to help them become better students.
  • Should be able to demonstrable experience in and knowledge of effective, interactive, evidence-based, and asynchronous online teaching, including expertise in building a high level of student engagement and interaction.
