DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

The Director of Enrollment is responsible for supervisory oversight of all Admissions staff assigned to their business unit and is accountable for delivering new and continuing student enrollment that meets or exceeds budgeted targets.  Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for collaborating with the Vice President for Growth and Innovation and the Associate Vice President for Graduate Enrollment on the development of a strategic plan for their business unit.  The Director of Enrollment is responsible for executing the approved strategic plan in a way that meets the goals and objectives laid out in the plan.

This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate data for the purpose of forecasting and tracking activity that predicts enrollment and reporting to internal and external stakeholders via email and in meetings on a regular basis.  The Director of Enrollment will closely collaborate with the Quality Assurance unit on a continuing professional development plan for each of their direct reports.

Responsibilities:

Lead, Coach, and Supervise Assigned Admissions and Advising Teams 

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the enrollment sales funnels and the ability to interpret funnel data in a way that leads to actionable insights and strategies
  • Demonstrate expertise in a consultative sales approach and align sales and coaching strategies with consultative best practices as outlined by Edgewood’s Graduate Enrollment practices
  • Develop exceptional program knowledge and serve as the go to expert and source of truth for anything program related in assigned area
  • Supervise an assigned team and position each member that team to execute strategies for converting prospective students into enrollments at each stage of the funnel
  • Identify barriers or challenges that do not align with an exceptional prospective student and current student experience and develop solutions collaborating with team members and leadership as necessary
  • Provide routine feedback to each member as outlined in our weekly coaching expectations and on a per start and per year basis which includes three “Start Scorecard” evaluations each year and one annual performance review
  • Manage all student data in assigned business unit in a way that maintains student record data integrity and data reporting integrity at all times
  • Serve as point of escalation for students the Admissions and Advising staff identifies as at risk for not starting their program or progressing as planned
  • Incumbent must thrive in a fast paced environment where success is defined by quantified goals.
  • Successful candidate must have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to initiate critical conversations with team members when necessary

Strategic Plan Execution and Collaboration 

  • Manage the execution of strategic plan for the assigned business unit
  • Report strategic plan progress updates to relevant internal and external stakeholders on a quarterly basis
  • Provide regular data driven feedback to Marketing team
  • Work closely with faculty and student support offices around campus to ensure a positive and seamless student experience at every point in the student’s journey

Strategic Planning, Budgeting, and Other 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish an annual strategic plan which must include the following elements: Plan to achieve enrollment targets, business to business/outreach plan, program alumni engagement plan, future needs analysis and team development plan that aligns with the identified needs
  • Provide input to the budgeting process from an enrollment standpoint and also from an expense and staffing standpoint
  • Propose opportunities to maximize enrollment in assigned business unit which could include proposing new program development within the unit
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in Business, Leadership, or a related field preferred
  • Progressively responsible experience that includes leadership
  • Background in consultative sales
  • At least one year of experience in higher education strongly preferred

 Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous history both performing in and training in an organization that utilizes a consultative sales approach, preferably within higher education
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines that change rapidly
  • Ability to effectively lead staff and students
  • Ability to work with diverse populations

Specialized Technology Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be willing to learn Slate and other internal data management tools.
