DESCRIPTION OF JOB:     

The Director of Undergraduate and Admissions will be an experienced individual providing professional leadership and exemplary service to prospective students and their families. The incumbent will oversee daily office activities and staff development to ensure efficient and effective enrollment operations. The Director will hire, train, and delegate duties of the Undergraduate Admissions Office.  This role will work in close partnership with the Vice President of Enrollment Management to perform these duties and to collaborate campus wide to implement our recruitment plan. The Director will also be responsible for ensuring progress towards college enrollment goals; assisting in the planning and implementation of special events, representing the admissions office on special committees as well as communicating with prospective students.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning, Policy Development and Data Analysis

  • Contribute to the successful accomplishment of the University’s enrollment objectives by developing and implementing a comprehensive student recruitment plan for undergraduate students which include, but is not limited to, the following components: development of an inquiry pool through the use of student search services, outreach, high school and community college relations, use of the web and emerging technologies, campus visit programs, publications, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and maintain statistics regarding enrollment, geographical distribution of students, financial aid, and attrition. Interpret these statistics, when appropriate share with the broader campus community.
  • In consultation with EM leadership, develop data-driven recruitment strategies by effectively utilizing data from a variety of sources to evaluate student characteristics and trends, as well as the University’s market position and competition.

 Admissions Oversight and Supervision

  • Provide leadership, management, and support for the recruitment efforts of the Office of Admissions and develops a competent, productive and effective staff by hiring and supervising, directly and through delegation. .
  • Maintain team members level of knowledge on the admissions process, academic programs, Edgewood University’s unique features and benefits and campus resources through on-going training.
  • Ensures the efficient processing of admission applications by developing and administering policies, procedures, and systems that provide quality admission services for prospective students.
  • Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Effectively utilizes University resources in accomplishing enrollment objectives by planning, developing, and controlling the departmental budget.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to admission criteria, admissions operations, and recruitment tactics while monitoring work flow and communications plans for admission staff.

Admissions Counseling/Advising Prospective Students and Outreach

  • Communicate with prospective students to supplement or fulfill needs not met by Admissions counselors.
  • Implement and oversee the Admissions Counselors recruitment travel and represent the Admissions Office at on-campus and off-campus events and programming for prospective students, when an Admissions Counselor is unable to attend. Travel will be required to high schools and various college fairs.
  • Review admission appeals and unique circumstances and follow-up with students as needed.
  • Oversee and coordinate admissions for special student populations (e.g. Youth Options).

Institutional Representation

  • Represent the Office of Admissions and the Enrollment Management through service on various University committees.
  • Co-Chair the Admissions committee and coordinate effectively with academic and administrative units across campus to achieve enrollment goals.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Admissions and Enrollment Management.

 Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and contribute as a member of the admissions team.
  •  Self-directed in developing and completing projects, recruitment plans, etc.
  • Evidence of the ability to work successfully with college and university administrators and       high school personnel is required.
  •  Ability to work fluctuating and irregular hours including nights and weekend.
  •  Must be comfortable with some traveling.
  •  Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be able to drive a College-owned vehicle.

 Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak in public to large and small groups.

 Specialized Technology Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with Slate CRM, Jenzabar Client Management System, InfoMaker, and Feith Document Database.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
