Liturgy Assistant and Chapel Coordinator – Part-time
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The Part-Time Liturgy Assistant and Chapel Coordinator supports the mission of Edgewood University by fostering a vibrant liturgical life rooted in the Dominican Catholic tradition. This position plays a central role in coordinating liturgies and worship services on campus, maintaining the chapel space, and supporting other projects in the Office of Campus Ministry
This position is a part-time position, slated to work approximately 8-10 hours per week. Some evenings and weeks may be required.
Responsibilities:
Liturgical Planning and Support
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of regular liturgies,
including monthly Masses, ecumenical prayer services, and special liturgical celebrations (e.g., Advent, Lent, Commencement). - Ensure that liturgical practices align with Roman Catholic and Dominican
traditions and university values.
Chapel Care and Sacristy Coordination:
- Prepare the chapel for liturgies, including setting up the altar, ensuring all
necessary items (e.g., candles, chalices, linens) are in place for Mass or other services and oversee the replenishment of sacramental supplies - Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the chapel and
sacristy.
Volunteer and Student Engagement
- Assist in recruiting and training students and community liturgical ministers.
- Prepare, guide, and support students and other liturgical ministers involved in liturgical offerings.
Special Projects
- In partnership with the Director, support Advent and Lent reflection opportunities for the College including the design and creation of seasonal reflection booklets
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong commitment to the values of the Dominican tradition, including truth, compassion, justice, partnership, and community; familiarity with principles of Catholic Social Teaching
- Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and experience in liturgical planning and
coordination; - Skills in music or liturgical arts (optional)
- Organizational and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively; • Ability to develop and foster relationships with a diverse campus community
- Flexibility for evening and weekend programming
- Valid U.S. driver’s license to operate Edgewood College vehicles
- The incumbent must pass a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Check
