Dr. Mattis earned her Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) with a dissertation focused on “Comparison of AI Tools that Address Social Determinants of Health Suggested to Reduce Maternal Mortality: A Systematic Review.” Additionally, she holds a Dual Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University, and Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Nakia Mattis, MHSA, PMP, LSSBB, FACHE, is the Senior Director of Revenue Cycle Management providing consulting services for large multi-system hospitals across the nation. Over the past 26 years, she has built a successful career as a healthcare executive, educator, and digital transformation leader in health systems operations, clinical informatics, and organizational strategy. She is a PMI Certified Program Manager and ASQ Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt who provides process improvement expertise, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle and clinical operations. Her academic and professional work centers on leveraging technology, equity‑driven innovation, and patient‑centered strategies to improve health outcomes for underserved communities. As an educator, her teaching philosophy emphasizes accessibility, lifelong learning, and real‑world application to prepare students for meaningful careers in healthcare leadership.
