Madison, Wis. (May 14, 2025) – Jacob Gill has been honored with the 2025 Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award at Edgewood College. Gill serves as a Senior Lecturer in Business.
“Jacob is a dedicated and passionate educator in the field of accounting,” Victoria Palmisano, Associate Dean of Business, Communication, and Innovation, said. “He exemplifies the highest standards of teaching, excellence, and mentorship.”
Palmisano praised her colleague for his support of his students – especially his support of student-athletes.

“Jacob recognizes the unique challenges they face and works tirelessly to provide them with the guidance and flexibility needed to balance their academic and athletic commitments,” she said. “His support has been instrumental in helping these students excel both on the field, and in the classroom.”
A graduating senior, and member of the Eagles Women’s soccer team, said “Jacob is always there to speak up for us, or to be a person to confide in when we are struggling with workload. He goes above and beyond for his students and has always been a great professor.”
Jacob Gill holds an M.B.A. and a Master of Science in Accountancy degree, both from Edgewood College.
The James R. Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award honors a faculty member, chosen by a committee of faculty, students, and alumni of Edgewood College, who exemplifies the highest standards of teaching excellence. The award is given in honor of James R. Underkofler, a long-time senior executive with Alliant Energy, who retired in 1990. The award pays tribute to Underkofler’s enduring interest in encouraging and promoting undergraduate teaching excellence.
