Edgewood College offers credit for military occupations and training courses if they are recommended for credit by the American Council on Education (ACE) and if Edgewood has similar courses. The credits earned are general elective credits toward the 120 (or 128 for nursing) credits required for a bachelor's degree. They do not fulfill specific general education or major requirements. Students with questions about fulfilling major requirements should contact their advisor.
Students should request an official copy of their military transcript be sent to Edgewood College. Official transcripts must come directly from the military or arrive stamped and sealed.

Edgewood offers alternative ways to obtain credit for prior learning.
Edgewood College accepts nationally standardized proficiency exams such as CLEP and DSST. Proficiency exams are available for both general education and major requirements. The exams are administered on Edgewood's Monroe Street campus several times a year. To register for an exam through Edgewood contact the Credit for Prior Learning Program Coordinator, Joan Schilling (email@example.com).
Exams may also be taken at Pearson Professional Center in Madison through Excelsior College and the results can be sent to Edgewood. To register for an exam through Excelsior College, contact 1-888-723-9267.
If students want to receive credit for a specific general education or major requirement that is not covered by a standardized test, they may develop a portfolio. Portfolios are developed under the supervision of the Credit for Prior Learning Office and have a standardized format. Contact the Credit for Prior Learning Program Coordinator, Joan Schilling (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
