Adjunct Instructor - Geoscience

Description of Job

The Chemistry, Geoscience & Physics Department at Edgewood College invites applications for an adjunct teaching position in Geoscience for the Fall 2020 semester.  Candidates should have experience in the fields of oceanography, atmospheric science, general geology and climate change.

Responsibilities

Teaching Assignment:

GEOS 103 (Oceans and Atmospheres) is an introductory level science course taught out of the department of Chemistry, Geoscience and Physics. Students in the course are typically non-science majors of all grade levels taking the course as one of their two natural science requirements. The evening time slot makes this class especially popular with students from outside the School of Arts and Sciences. The structure of the course consists of two 3-hour meeting periods which feature a mixture of lecture, lab, and discussion. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, ocean sediments, properties of seawater, ocean currents, composition of the atmosphere, and climate change. Assessment is based on student discussions, exams, a group-based project, and participation in lab activities.

Class is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6-9 pm.
