Assistant for Athletics Marketing and Communication
Description of Job
Responsibilities
Athletic Department Marketing
Publicize the Athletic Department to constituents (i.e. media, parents, recruits, alumni, etc.);
Develop and produce printed collateral
Promote teams and students for awards while coordinating the statistical aspect of award applications
Coordinate all aspects of webcasts and audiocasts of selected athletic events
Promote media coverage of the athletic program through press releases, feature stories, video content and relationships with media outlets
Create and develop new and engaging video content for the website and social media platforms. Research new video trends and apply those to Eagle Athletics.
Assist in the design and development of recruiting videos for all 20 varsity athletics teams. These videos will highlight team culture, player development and facility use.
Assist in planning and execution of live video-casts for all 20 varsity athletics teams’ practices. Each team will have at least 3 broadcasts.
Intern Supervision
Supervise and evaluate any student interns
Provide training, management and evaluation for video/photography assistant, sub-contracted event workers and work-study students
Assist in training of students and volunteer staff needed for the larger volume of contests to be played in the spring.
Website & Social Media Platform Supervision
Assist in maintaining the athletics website and ensure content is current and dynamic
Identify, collect, create and develop content for all social media channels and web site
Ensure population of athletics social media channels with current and dynamic content
Develop and assist with innovative, modern and professional Athletics Department events videocasts and audiocasts.
Develop and maintain community relationships that could allow our content to extend to their social media and broadcast platforms.
Statistical Management
Maintain accurate statistics required by the NCAA, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and other athletic organizations
Submit required reports using required and current programs
Maintain archives of accurate historical records
Other
Attend all Athletic Department staff meetings
Actively maintain a strong relationship and open communication with the Office of Marketing and Strategic Communications
Ensure consistency in Athletics Department and general College marketing efforts and language
Participate in NACC and NCAA meetings as appropriate
Maintain membership in CoSIDA and attend annual convention
Participate in Athletic Department’s annual Golf Outing
Serve on the Eagles Athletics Hall of Fame Committee
Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
B.A. in related field, previous experience in Communications, sports information or related field.
Two-plus years of experience in Communications or related field
Required Knowledge and Skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong leadership skills and ability to lead coordination across department lines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills; the Director represents the College to internal and external audiences on an ongoing basis. The ability to do so independently, and with positive energy, is required.
Competence with sports rules and sports statistics
The ability to write clearly, engagingly, and persuasively under deadline
Required Technical Skills
Demonstrated working knowledge and aptitude with NCAA recommended statistical software
Demonstrated competence with photo editing and social media editing software
Demonstrated competence with web site design and editing
Demonstrated competence with video, post production of video, and web streaming technology.
Competence with audio production and audio web streaming technology
