Athletics Event Manager and Reddan Facility Coordinator

Description of Job

This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Athletics.  The position is responsible for intercollegiate athletics event operations (game day), Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park scheduling, oversight and snow removal and, Revenue generation at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.  Athletics plays an important role in the life of the campus, including but, not limited to the following: enhancing the learning experience for student-athletes, creating opportunities for uniting the campus community, publicly demonstrating the College’s values and mission, and contributing to the achievement of the College’s enrollment goals. This position will be active in supporting the College’s Mission and Vision, and will strictly adhere to NCAA, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and Institutional rules.


Game-Day Event Management

  • Manage and edit when needed, visiting team packets and game day protocols
  • Communicate visiting team packets and game day protocols in a timely manner
  • Hire, train and supervise event staffing volunteers, student workers and other game-day personnel
  • Process all game contracts with opponents
  • Communicate regarding and respond professionally to special needs of visiting teams
  • Review and suggest spectator policies for a safe, inviting and exciting game-day environment
  • Communicate with game officials prior to arrival and arrange for special needs/requests
  • Ensure complete and accurate processing of officials’ payment documents
  • Oversee and direct proper contest venue set up and closure
  • Ensure all NCAA and NACC contest protocols and rules are followed

Facility Scheduling Coordination

  • Collaborate with MAYSA Director on scheduling of Edgewood College Field at Reddan Soccer Park
  • Ensure Edgewood College field schedules are submitted to MAYSA, per contract specified dates
  • Work with Reddan Soccer Park supervisor on special needs and requests
  • Ensure field use specifications as well as any changes with Edgewood College personnel
  • Communicate with all stake holders pertaining to schedule changes or adjustments
  • Ensure Edgewood College Field at Reddan Soccer Park is safe and prepared for Edgewood sponsored contests
  • Recommend changes to improve the venue for users or spectators

Facility Revenue Generation

  • Collaborate with Edgewood College coaches regarding hosting of camps, clinics or other beneficiary uses
  • Ensure Edgewood College camps, clinics and beneficiary events are prioritized in field scheduling
  • Identify scheduling spaces for rental to outside groups (i.e. high school/club teams, state tournaments, etc.)
  • Develop and adjust agreements for rental groups ensuring operating costs are covered and additional revenue generated
  • Ensure Edgewood College Business Office protocols are followed
  • Communicate with Campus Risk Manager Officer and ensure all safety protocols are followed at field

Facility Maintenance And Snow Removal

  • Oversee Edgewood College Field at Reddan Soccer Park manager
  • Ensure field is always clean and safe
  • Remove snow from field, immediately following a snowfall
  • Immediately report issues with tractor and snow removal equipment
  • Coordinate with soccer and lacrosse teams for additional snow removal assistance
  • Immediately report facility equipment and structure issues and concerns


  • Attend all Athletic Department staff meetings
  • Attend all Edgewood College Assemblies and Opening Seminars
  • Participate in Athletic Department’s annual Golf Outing
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  •   Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or closely related field required
  •   Experience in collegiate or professional event management
  •   Experience in collegiate or professional game-day operations
  •   Experience in facility maintenance and safety

Required Knowledge and Skills

  •   Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
  •   General understanding of NCAA III rules
  •   Ability to relate to a diverse population
  •   Understanding of and ability to support the Edgewood College Mission and Values
  •   Valid Driver’s License and outstanding driving record
  •   Proven ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with others
  •   Willingness to learn new tasks
  •   Ability to accommodate a schedule that often requires evenings and weekends

Required Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic scheduling programs
