Lecturer - Mathematics
Description of Job
The Mathematics Department in the School of Liberal Arts, Education, and the Sciences at Edgewood College invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in teaching with a focus on introductory level math courses. The candidate should be mission driven with a desire to innovate to improve and enhance the experience of college students in mathematics courses. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
The teaching of introductory undergraduate mathematics courses is the primary responsibility of the faculty member. The faculty member will also assist in designing courses and implementing teaching strategies that facilitate student engagement and success with mathematics. Mathematics faculty members are also expected to contribute to the mathematics program through appropriate service activities such as mentoring, assessment, and governance.
Necessary Education or Work Experience
- MS, ABD, or earned doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline. (Including at least 18 credits of graduate level math.
- Experience working with undergraduates in the classroom.
- Ability to motivate all students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to reach their learning goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with department colleagues and others on campus.
Required Knowledge and Skills
An enthusiastic, reflective approach to teaching is required. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to create meaningful collegial relationships with students, faculty, and leadership with diverse backgrounds and points of view will be given priority consideration.

a statement of teaching philosophy;
a transcript showing highest degree earned (an official transcript will be required of finalists)
