Student Orientation and Involvement Coordinator (Limited Term Employee)

The Office of Student Inclusion (OSI) is seeking a Student Orientation and Involvement Coordinator. This is a full-time, limited term employee (LTE) position beginning June 2023 through November 2023. The LTE Student Orientation and Involvement Coordinator will provide leadership for welcoming incoming undergraduate students and student involvement initiatives. This includes coordination of Orientation, Welcome Week, and programming at Edgewood College. This position will supervise student staff and para-professional staff members and assist in budget management appropriate to their specialty area.
The Office of Student Involvement (OSI) serves as the primary source of social, leadership, and co-curricular campus opportunities for all Edgewood College students. We cultivate a variety of opportunities for campus engagement that create a well-rounded student experience.
Responsibilities
Orientation
- Assist in providing leadership for the College’s orientation programs including:
- New Student Orientation
- Transfer Orientation
- Assist in training and supervising the orientation student staff (Orientation Leadership Team and NODA Intern)
- Coordinate communication and logistics, including room reservations, facilities, vendors, and working with various departments, faculty, and staff
- Assist with correspondence to new students and their families; design print and electronic publications; maintain orientation website
- Maintain, regularly update, and utilize Guidebook to communicate Orientation scheduling with first year and transfer students
- Serve as lead Orientation staff member during August Orientation
- Conduct annual assessment of Orientation for future improvement and development
- Evaluate processes and delivery of orientation programs, including analysis and reporting of data for distribution to college leadership.
- Work closely with the Coordinator for Student Engagement and Leadership to coordinate Welcome Week programs
Student Involvement
- Develop, plan, implement, and assess strategic initiatives and programs that support the co-curricular engagement of all Edgewood College students, including student organizations, student events and activities, first year and transfer student orientations, commuter student support, and student leadership development
- Collaborate with Coordinator for Leadership and Engagement to coordinate and execute CampusFest Student Involvement Fair
- Plan, execute, and evaluate Family Weekend events and programming
Student Support
- Provide supervision to the OSI Desk Staff
- Coordinate OSI Desk staffing throughout fall semester
- Act as a mentor for all students through developing relationships, planning and attending events, and working with fellow Student Life staff to support students.
Administrative Functions
- Serve as member College committees, as needed
- Assist in the creation of the End of Year Report through data collection focusing on Orientation
- Actively support mission of Edgewood College and the Division of Student Development
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
- All applicants are encouraged to apply, preference may be granted to those with related Master’s degree and/or student affairs experience
- Two-year of student affairs experience, ideally working in the areas of orientation and student involvement
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theories, practices, and current trends/best practices in the area of new student transition (preferred)

- Problem solving/conflict resolution skills
- Awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
- Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities
- Organization skills
- Computer and technology proficiency and abilities, including Excel
