Transfer & Graduate Student Housing Information

We are always excited to welcome transfer students into the residence halls! For students looking to build friendships and engage in the campus community quickly, living on campus makes these goals achievable and convenient. The experiences and knowledge that transfer students bring from former institutions is valuable and enriches our campus culture. We are eager to see what new experiences and learning the residence halls have in store for you as you join our community!

What Should I Pack?

What housing options exist at Edgewood College for freshmen students?

  • Stevie Hall (double rooms)
  • Regina West Hall (single rooms)
  • Regina East Hall (primarily double rooms)

How are roommates assigned?

It is very common for students not to request a specific roommate. In this case, students are assigned roommates based on their hall preferences and answers to the compatibility questions. Students do have the option to request a roommate. Students may also request a proximity request/neighbor if requesting a single room. Roommates requesting to live with or near each other must have identical hall preferences and request each other on both applications in order for us to try to make the match.

Will I be placed in my top hall choice?

Not necessarily. You should be comfortable with living in any of your top hall preferences. When signing your housing contract, you are not guaranteed a specific room or hall, and could be placed in any of our halls across campus. Don’t worry, though! All of our halls are awesome and we’re confident you’ll have an excellent experience and meet incredible people no matter where you live.

When are housing assignments given to residents?

Room assignments will be emailed by mid-July. Students receive information on which hall and room they’ve been assigned to, roommate names and contact info (if applicable) and more details about the residence hall, including what to bring and how to get in contact with the floor Resident Assistant (RA). We will also include details about move-in day.

I would like to change my preferences or roommate requests. How can I do this?

To update a housing application,

  • The student should go in and complete a new housing application with the updated preferences.
  • The new application will replace the original one; the original application date will be retained.
If a prospective student wants to cancel their housing application, they should email the Office of Residence Life at residencelife@edgewood.edu.

Is there a housing deposit?

No, we do not require a housing deposit from incoming freshmen, transfer students, current students, or returning residents.

Do I need to commit to Edgewood before submitting a housing application?

No. You can submit your housing application – just in case – before you decide on Edgewood College. If you decide not to attend Edgewood College, you may cancel your housing application. Please notify Edgewood College in writing of your application withdrawal by emailing residencelife@edgewood.edu.

When is the housing application deadline?

While there is no deadline, we recommend students submit a housing application as soon as they know that Edgewood College is one of their top college choices. Edgewood College does room assignments in July and uses the original housing application submission date when assigning rooms so an earlier date is always preferred.

Is housing guaranteed for freshman residents?

Yes, Edgewood College has a two year residency requirement. Our goal with our housing requirement is to enrich the college experience and strengthen the sense of community for our on-campus students. Research shows that the first two years of college are a critical time for students to develop academic and social networks in order to facilitate academic success, persistence, and satisfaction. Therefore, we are committed to providing a supportive and positive campus environment conducive to student engagement and learning for all students, particularly for our freshmen and sophomores.

All freshmen students under the age of 21 will be required to live on campus for their first two academic years unless they choose to live with a family member and/or legal guardian (over the age of 25 and within commuting distance.) Students who sign up for and move in to the halls for their freshmen year are contractually bound to the two year requirement. Exceptions to this policy will include: students who have children, live in domestic partnerships, are veterans or are not full-time students. Studying abroad is considered to be fulfilling the residency requirement.

I am coming to Edgewood College. How can I apply for housing?

Students who are admitted to Edgewood College are able to complete an online or paper housing application.  Click here for more information and to begin filling out your housing application.
