Adjunct Instructor - Income Tax Accounting

Description of Job

The School of Business at Edgewood College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach Income Tax Accounting I and II for the Spring 2022 semester. These courses, are foundational requirements in the Accountancy programs.  These courses meet virtually as 8-week offerings during Sessions 1 and 2 of the Spring Semester

Within the content of Income Tax Accounting I and II, students are presented with concepts and examples of tax laws and regulations related to individual taxpayers and the principles of taxation common to all taxpayers (i.e. Individuals, partnerships and corporations), along with tax administration and research.


Teach one or more stand-alone course sections; evaluate student progress and assign grades; meet with students outside of class as needed. Instructor will participate in periodic instructor meetings under the direction of the head of the department and must adhere to established learning outcomes and may use existing course materials, but function independently.   Sample syllabi will be provided to assist in the development of the course.  Selected instructor must complete online instructional certification training through Edgewood College and will be responsible for the design and implementation of associated Blackboard Sites.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting with a qualified professional certification or licensure such as a CPA, CMA or CGMA is required.  Significant relevant work experience outside of academia in the areas of tax, law and/or government accounting are highly desirable. 
  • A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Accounting (AACSB accredited university) is preferred. ABD status doctoral candidates will also be considered.
  • Experience with teaching/mentoring is required, online experience preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Exhibits professionalism, integrity, and ethics at all times.
  • Willingness to promote the School of Business to prospective students and to the Greater Madison community.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of SharePoint and Blackboard are pluses.
