Madison, Wis. (November 13, 2019) – For the first time in its history, the Edgewood College Eagles will have a dedicated home venue for both practice and intercollegiate matches for Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse.

The Eagles new home will be located at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona, Wisconsin, and is the result of a unique partnership with the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA). A new field, complete with spectator stands, a press box, and scoreboard, is expected to be ready for Fall 2020.

“This is an exciting addition to our offerings as we continue to shape a student-centered future at Edgewood College,” Mary Ellen Gevelinger, O.P., Interim President, said. “What makes this partnership so special is the impact it will have not only our students and students-athletes, but on our wider community as well.”

While the new turf field being built will be distinctly “Eagles,” the new venue will use existing lighting and parking that Reddan Park already enjoys. When not in use by Edgewood College, the new field will be a key addition to Reddan, Chris Lay, Executive Director MAYSA, said.

“This collaboration is a win-win-win for sports in our area,” Lay said. “It’s a win for Edgewood College and their athletics programs, a win for the quality of Reddan Soccer Park fields, and a win for youth soccer in our community.  We are very excited and very grateful for this partnership.”

The new home field also deepens a partnership with the city of Verona that’s been in place for several years. Both the Eagles Softball and Baseball teams have home fields in Verona.

“This is exciting for our student-athletes and the MAYSA players that call Reddan Park home,” Al Brisack, Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach, said. “Our student-athletes will finally have the same home for practices and games, and it’s a fantastic facility!  Having six of our teams calling Verona home just brings more attention to a growing and vibrant community.  We are proud to be able to build on the Verona-area partnerships we have formed over the last 20 years.”
