Orientation Intern

The Orientation Intern serves a vital role in the Office of Student Involvement throughout the summer. Under the leadership of the Assistant Director for Student Transition and Leadership, the Orientation Intern will plan, implement, and execute Orientation programs and training sessions for the Orientation Leadership Team. In addition, the Intern will have the unique opportunity to gain experience within the Residence Life functional area.

The Office of Student Involvement (OSI) oversees four primary areas which include: campus programming, leadership programs, commuter student services, and orientation. OSI serves as the primary source of social, leadership, and co-curricular campus opportunities for all Edgewood students. We cultivate a variety of opportunities for campus engagement that create a well-rounded student experience and work to enhance the academic mission of Edgewood College.

Length of Appointment: Thursday, May 30 – Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Move-in May 29.
Hours: 
30 hours per week. Night, weekend, and extended hours of work will be required during summer events and New Student Orientation.
Stipend:
$3000
Housing: Shared furnished on-campus apartment

Responsibilities

Assist with the planning for New Student Orientation and Welcome Week:

  • Special focus on an orientation topic of interest to intern that is mutually decided with Edgewood College professional staff
  • Assist with the preparation for and facilitation of Orientation Leadership Team training
  • Assist with the supervision of approximately 30 student leaders on the Orientation Leadership Team
  • Co-present on Orientation & Student Life and/or OSI services during summer events
  • Assist with the planning of Freshman Summer Social event
  • Assist with the expansion of program assessment and student learning outcomes
  • Collaborate with Housing Intern on various tasks including preparation for student leader training and fall housing assignments
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office of Student Involvement

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Current master’s level graduate student at an accredited higher educational institution
  • Experience planning and/or facilitating new student orientation initiatives
  • At minimum current undergraduate junior level standing during the 2023-2024 academic year
  • Good academic standing at an accredited higher educational institution
  • Demonstrated interest in higher education administration and/or new student orientation
